Pantanal jaguars eat caimans. They often hunt them from a tree or an elevated position.

Catching a caiman is no easy task: You’re supposed to break its neck… without getting the pointed end of the animal turning back toward you. Then, the not-so-easy part is to bring the victim back up out of the water for an easier meal.

This will allow feeding the younger generation.

These big males fell under the bullets of trophy hunters, even with collars and in a protected area.

It’s a pity, but these hunters will kill anything and anywhere. In this case, this will be a major blow to the small population of desert lions (a specific adaptation of the African lion to dry weather conditions).

Unfortunately, some animals can’t read. Here are two examples.

First, a fox found itself in the enclosure of a lion in the Wuppertal zoo (Germany). It left quite quickly after understanding the kind of error it made.

The second is even more astonishing since this is simply a mere rodent which decided to go and eat part of the dinner of a leopard of the Santago Rare Leopard Project, in Hertfordshire (UK). The small rat, quite young and inexperienced, but not impressed at all, demonstrated that size is not all. When you got what it takes…

Here is a very common situation: The gazelle he just caught is immediately stolen by the much more powerful hyena that took the opportunity to grab a fresh kill with minimal risk.
